Many factors depend on how dense and long your dog’s fur is. The longer and denser it is, the longer it will take for the tick to reach exposed skin.
On average, it takes anywhere from 3 hours to 2 days, but it’s nearly impossible to determine the exact duration of a tick’s stay on the animal.
What is more important is to determine the number of ticks that have bitten your pet.
However, sometimes ticks may detach themselves without biting the animal at all. This can happen during inspection after a walk or during grooming, or the animal may shake off the tick on its own.
The tick season is already underway, so make sure to use special repellents and check yourself and your pets after walks!
