In South Carolina, USA, a man was relaxing in his backyard until his peace was disrupted by the appearance of a massive bear.
According to Asheville resident David Oppenheimer, his doorbell camera alerted him to movement outside the house. However, when he looked around, he saw nothing.
About a minute later, the bear was standing beside him, having approached from behind. Initially, the man comically grabbed onto a pillow and froze, and then he and the animal locked eyes.
“When it happened, we locked eyes, and I thought you’re not supposed to make eye contact with a bear, but we established visual contact, and I didn’t know what to do next. I thought about looking away to the side a little, but I wanted to be ready to scare the bear off if it attacked me,” the man recounted.
Fortunately, not only David was frightened but also his “guest,” who eventually decided to run away after a while. The American believes that this bear is the same animal that had been roaming around his house before and raiding the bird feeder.
“Bears here are very peaceful. This one just caught me off guard,” he added.
